With 10 years experience of
working in clay, an HND from NEWI and an Honours Degree in Ceramics from Wolverhampton University, I
make one-off pieces at my workshop in Chester for exhibition and sale directly
to the public.
My sources come from the
cycles of growth and erosion in nature.
I reinterpret these to show the continuing movement of change and the fragile balance and
timelessness of the world about us. I
hope they evoke a personal response in others.
Each piece is individually
constructed by me using mainly my fingers.
I high fire it in gas reduction to vitrify the clay making it suitable
for use inside and out. After much
experimentation I have created my own textural and colourful glazes which I
layer with slips and other substances to create organic surfaces for my
twisting and eroding forms. These
become wall pieces or free standing sculptures which may be placed in a variety
of positions to give changing views.
